Albertha Profit Guess' Obituary
Mrs. Albertha "Birdie" Guess of 131 Cyclone Drive, Santee, died on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, at her residence.
Mrs. Guess was the daughter of the late Annie Mae Profit Pauling and the late Fessie Profit was born July 6, 1941 in Orangeburg County, SC.
At an early age she joined Red Hill Baptist Church in Santee, SC. She served on the Senior Choir until her health failed. "BIRDIE" attended Dantzler public school.
In 1957, she married Morris Guess, Jr. To this union they were blessed with eight children, three preceded her in death, (Bobbie Ann, Howard, and Charlie). She was also predeceased by one sister, Annie Lee Bouldrick and one brother, James Profit.
She was a loving and caring Mother who took everyone under her wings. She loved to cook and was well known for braiding hair, taking care of the kids in the community. Her hobbies were reading the newspaper; word search puzzles, sewing, watching her grandchildren and taking care of her family. She was a homemaker.
"BIRDIE" leaves to cherish her memories a husband Morris Guess of Orangeburg, SC; three loving daughters, Norma (Franklin) Abraham of Santee, SC, Katherine (Johnnie) Butler of the home, and Mary Sellers of Santee, SC; two sons, Bobbie (Sandra) Guess of Vance, SC, Leroy (Joann) Guess of Hill Point, NC, three step children, Curtis, Flossie, and Anthony Glover all of Orangeburg, SC; two brothers, Samuel (Jennifer) Profit of Detroit, MI and Mayfield (Twanda) Profit, of Maryland; two sisters, Warren Jean (Sam) Gantt of Santee, SC and Lillie Fogle of Santee, SC; one brother-in-law, Tommie Lee Bouldrick, 13 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren, four grandchildren raised in the home, Valeria, Kelvin, and Johnathan Guess and LaTisha Sellers all of Santee, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, one special nephew John (Terry) Gantt of Bridgeport, CT and other relatives. A special thanks to Mrs. Connie Mae Prezzie of Orangeburg, SC, her best friend.
Funeral services for Mrs. Guess will be held at 12 Noon Saturday, June 6, 2015 at the Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 3425 Old State Rd., Santee with the Rev. Michael A. Wright, Sr., Pastor officiating. Burial will follow in the Island Cemetery, Santee, SC.
Visitation is scheduled from 3:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday June 5, 2015 at the Williams Funeral Home of Elloree.
Friends may call at the residence or the funeral home.
