Deaconess Lula Mae Johnson of 2726 Felderville Rd., Santee died on January 2, 2015 at the Regional Medical Center.

Deaconess Lula Mae Johnson, daughter of the late Lee Johnson, Sr. and the late Geneva Jefferson Johnson, was born July 17, 1924 in Orangeburg County, SC. She was preceded in death by her husband, Deacon Robert Johnson, whom she married in 1937 and six children.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories five children: Lizzie Emanuel of Brandton, FL; Rosa Washington of Santee, SC; Geneva (Robert) Blount of Sebring, FL; Bertha Mae Johnson of Lakewell, FL; and Wilson (Leola) Johnson of Holly Hill, SC; one sister, Lurine Taste of Dayton, OH; one brother, John Johnson of Dayton, OH; four sisters-in-law, Myrtle Louise Johnson of Santee, SC; Gertrude Johnson and Earnestine Johnson of North Carolina; and Eartha Lee Johnson of Washington, DC; sixteen grandchildren, fifty-six great grandchildren, twenty-two great great grandchildren, a very special dear friend, Deaconess Carrie Lee Bookhart; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12 Noon Wednesday, January 7, 2015, at Red Hill Missionary Baptist Church, 3425 Old State Road, Santee, SC with the Rev. Michael A. Wright, Sr., Pastor officiating. The body will be placed in the church at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in the Island Cemetery.

Visitation at Williams Funeral Home of Elloree will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 PM Tuesday, January 6, 2015.
