About Us

Our Beginnings

Williams Funeral Home was founded as a joint venture between families -- brothers Marion Robert and Willie Bruce Williams of Elloree and Sims Greene of St. Matthews in 1937. At the time of its inception, it was the only African American funeral home in the eastern portion of Orangeburg County.

Our Journey

The business has continued to operate in this present location and has been managed by descendants of the initial owners. Robert Lee Williams, II (second generation), the late husband of Mrs. Olive Williams, who managed the business until he became disabled. Mrs. Williams worked with her husband and later assumed the management role and acquired full ownership of the business. The full time management role has now passed to their son, Dr. Robert Lee Williams, III, and represents the third generation of family tradition.

Our Present

Dr. Robert Lee Williams, III, the current manager, represents the third generation of family tradition. Ms. Patricia Williams VanBuren, the eldest daughter of Mrs. Olive Williams and the late Robert Lee Williams, II, has joined her brother as a Funeral Director.

Since the beginning, the Williams Family has held fast to its principles of integrity, dignity and respect as we continue to serve and assist families during difficult times.
